Farewell from Pat and John

Wednesday, December 02, 2009 by Mhairi

Dear Parents and Gymnasts

Pat and I would like to inform you that we have decided to retire from The City of Truro Gymnastics Club from the 19th December 2009. We would like to say that we have enjoyed our time at the club with you all, but feel it is time for us to hand over to Mhairi Whyte.

We would like to thank both parents and gymnasts for your contribution to the success of the Club, and all who have helped to develop the Club to its present position in the County. Many friends, parents and gymnasts have helped in the many activities of the Club from fund raising to coaching to organising discos, competition events, providing transport and bringing the children to gym each week, often several times per week and from a considerable distance.

We have been involved in gymnastics coaching for 30 years and have been in the old Boys Club for 24 years and have received much help and encouragement from Mr Buddell, Chairman of the Boys Club and his past committees.

Although we have had a great deal of success in gymnastics competition terms at County, Regional and National levels, we feel our real success is reflected in the confidence and self awareness that our gymnasts have obtained from participating in gymnastics as run with our philosophy of the sport. Our mission has been to contribute to the health and fitness of the children through gymnastics.

We have over the years been very lucky with the children who have been coming to the Club and have many great memories of them. Naturally we are going to miss them very much especially their joy of achieving a new skill in the gym. I don't think we can replace that.

The Club will continue in the capable hands of Miss Mhairi Whyte.

Mhairi is a fully qualified British Gymnastics Coach and as an ex gymnast and county champion is quite able to maintain the levels of coaching expected of Truro Gym Club. She has been training and being coached by us for over 12 years and is familiar with all our gymnasts.

We are sure you will continue to support Mhairi in providing your young gymnast with a rewarding experience of gymnastics within The City of Truro Gymnastics Club that will last them a lifetime.

Yours sincerely

Pat and John
